How to ensure network security?

Two major security issues that may cause a network to be down are an attack on a computer, and real time attack on server. What should you do to protect network security? Install antivirus, firewall, shared folder protector…

Enterprise can protect their assets, value by protecting the network. A secure company network can protect company’s critical and sensitive data and information from being hacked or stolen by a hacker or a competitor. Network security is a very imperative and serious topic. Since the network is responsible for almost all the computer activities such as sending and receiving emails, browsing websites, sharing files and sharing resources, etc, the computer network seems the most important system on computer.

In addition to antivirus software, all computers on the network should install firewall. Firewall can filter all traffic including incoming and outgoing traffic. The firewall will protect the network by obstructing malicious program such as Trojan horses, which can intrude your system and let the hacker who set this Trojan control your computer remotely.

And the passwords used to logon the computer or personal information saved on online account should not be the same. In case hacker obtains a password, he/she can use the password to access your other accounts such as credit card account. Therefore your passwords applied on different accounts should be different; otherwise someone else can have full access to all accounts with one password. It’s not an easy thing to remember many passwords, so you can use a dependable password manager program to help you to record passwords, and you only need to remember one password of the program.

And you should be careful when sharing files and folder on the LAN. Maybe some of files or folders are only shared with specific users, you need to protect shared folder on LAN to ensure unauthorized users can’t access.
